The learners at Malemia seemed to be cold with only pieces of cotton cloth tied on our shoulders for warmth. They were so cold that they refused to play outside. (Very unusual for these children). It was then that I decided that some of the donated money should go for keeping them warm. I went to Zomba town in search of blankets that I could use to make ponchos for them that would not only serve them as coats during the day but as blankets at night. With Carolyn's great bargaining skills, we were able to purchase enough blankets to make 300 poncho/blankets for the children at Malemia.
